I don’t frequently write a blog page on a hotel we have stayed at, but I feel Elounda Peninsula All Suite Hotel in Crete deserves it! This luxury hotel is located in Elounda, Crete in Greece right along the sea.
Diary of a Gen-X recommendations for hotels and restaurants are based on our own experiences. We do not receive compensation for recommending at any of these nor are we affiliates of any hotels or restaurants. The only hotels we recommend are places we stayed which were clean, comfortable, and provided exceptional hospitality.
Location of Elounda Peninsula Hotel

The location, which is on the beach of the peninsula is the perfect place for enjoying the sun and sea.
Elounda Peninsula Hotel
We saw both beautiful sunrises and sunsets here. The hotel is designed that all rooms have a sea view and privacy balcony, some include a plunge pool. Behind the rooms, the design of the hotel reminds you of a quaint Greek village.

I really love this hotel, and part of it is because of the attentive staff. I can’t say enough about the wonderful hospitality of the staff here. The Staff are very welcoming and really want you to enjoy your stay. They take pride in the establishment. By the time we checked out, we felt we were leaving friends behind.
The Lobby
The concierge here is fantastic. He is a wealth of information and is easy to talk with. The lobby is a tastefully decorated and inviting place to relax or just hang out while waiting for a ride or just relaxing. The open spiral staircase is beautiful and a showcase of it’s own. There is also a veranda outside with marvelous views wherever you look.

Our Room
Our room was very spacious and luxurious. There was nothing more we could want. The room showcased large windows so we could see the beautiful view at all times. The bathroom hosted an air jet tub and massage shower. Both felt glorious. The bed faced the windows and was very comfortable. The sitting area also faced the windows. Outside on our spacious deck the lounge chairs were relaxing and the table was a great spot to sip a glass of wine. The Elounda Peninsula Hotel surprised us as it was our anniversary week. We were gifted with a bottle of wine and a cake! Very thoughtful and unexpected!

Sunrise and Breakfast
In the morning the bountiful buffet breakfast started our day with delicious fruits, pastries, breads, yogurts, cereals, and almost everything you can think of. As if the buffet isn’t enough, you can order ala carte, waffles, eggs, etc. The views are also outstanding.

Beaches
After having visited Spinalonga Island in the morning, we were ready for some beach time, spending time at the beaches which are amazing. One of the beaches is almost completely surrounded by a patio with lounge chairs. It is an incomplete circular shape around the water with a large yacht at one end for access further into the sea.

Snorkeling and Jet Skiing
We enjoyed the sun for a bit and then snorkeled around the area with the lounge chairs, out into the sea, and back around to the other beach located by the hotel pool. It was awesome! We saw many rocks and small schools of fish. My husband even spotted some sea urchins. Too bad we did not bring our underwater camera!

After snorkeling, we walked over to the small marina and rented a jet ski. This was fantastic! My husband drove and I hung on tight! I could have done this for hours!
Lounging Around
Back at our spot on the lounge chairs, I enjoyed a couple of tasty drinks. The bar service to this area was fantastic. I could not believe how fast the server was able to take my order, retrieve it from the beach bar, and serve me my drink! Like all of the services here, the beach and poolside service represents yet another exceptional service at Elounda Peninsula All Suites Hotel.

Sunset
That evening, after a great afternoon relaxing, we prepared for dinner and then enjoyed the sunset from the veranda outside the lobby. Such a beautiful scene.

Dinner

For dinner we chose one of the hotel’s many restaurants, which was a Greek buffet. We enjoyed a variety of Greek inspired food with a beautiful view of the peninsula. I also enjoyed a glass of Cretan wine. We had a great meal in a lovely atmosphere and fantastic service.
Poolside Bar and Hotel at Night
After dinner Steve and I had some down time at the poolside bar. I enjoyed a Cretan wine and we both enjoyed the beautiful surroundings. The bartender was wonderful! We enjoyed talking with him, he was fun and had a great smile but unfortunately I can’t remember his name!

Conclusion
We really enjoyed the Elounda Peninsula All Suite Hotel and wish we could have stayed longer. I can’t think of a better place to use as a base when in Elounda. In other words, this is definitely the place to stay. We feel there are so many amenities here that we missed experiencing. As a matter of fact, we just booked a 3 day stay here again in September 2020 and needless to say, we can’t wait!! Click here to book your stay at the Elounda Peninsula All Suites Hotel!
Planning
True Trips, Greece. A big part of planning is done for us! Both times we traveled to Greece, we let True Greece plan much of our trip! They will plan as much or as little as you want, and they really listen to what you want to do. We had them plan our lodging along with our transfers to and from airports and ferry ports. They pick us up and take us to the lodging. You can have them plan your tours too. The tours we did last year were awesome! As a matter of fact, they are from Greece. They know the ins and outs that we would never know. This is invaluable, as it assures for a smooth trip. In other words, I 100% recommend True Greece. They are experts and they work hard to plan with you!
