March 2021 found us at Fort Myers Beach in Florida. We spent a 4 day weekend here to visit Steve’s Mum and her guy, Al celebrating her 92nd birthday a week early! It was so exciting to be seeing family and also to be traveling again. Each morning we did some exploring and then mid afternoon we would go to his mum’s house, have dinner and spend the rest of the day with them.
Fort Myers Beach
Fort Myers Beach is one of our favorites, whether we are walking, bike riding, swimming or just sitting in the sun. Unfortunately, there was a bit of a cold spell so the swimsuits stayed packed and we did a lot of walking. Fort Myers is a soft white sand beach with plenty of seashells! This particular day we were up early in the morning hoping to catch one of the glorious sunrises they have here. The morning was mostly overcast, the sunrise was nice but not like some we have remembered. We still enjoyed our walk because all in all, watching a sunrise is a spectacular way to start the day!

The Pier
The Pier isn’t too far from where we stay and is usually our go to spot. I do love this Pier as it just looks so serene strutting out into the gulf.

Critters Along the Way
We also saw fun critters along the way. We saw starfish, crab, birds and dolphins. The dolphins were a bit shy and not too playful so I did not get a good photo. They popped up once or twice and that was about it. The birds were not at all shy and just walked alongside of us for a bit looking for their breakfast.

Conclusion
We love Fort Myers Beach in Florida. Not just because it is a nice beach, but because we also know we will get to see Steve’s family! Lots of good memories and fun.

Fun at Fort Myers Beach in Florida Sept 2015
It’s always nice to walk along the beach and look for treasures that have washed up on the shore. This looks like a great spot to make memories.
We do enjoy walking on the beach! Although I am more of a mountain and canyon person!
So nice!!
It was a good weekend!
💗💗💗
Ahhh, the ocean side. Just a dream for us right now. Maybe in April. It loos a little calmer here than the Spring Break zone in Miami. Glad you were able to see family Lori. Allan
It was great seeing family! A bit busy with spring beakers but no issues that we noticed! Mostly families with kids where we were.
Oh, my gosh! I’m so jealous! I love the ocean and I know you had lots of fun! Love the starfish pics! <3
Thanks! It was so awesome to be by on a beach again!!
I know it was! I’m so glad you had fun. Happy travels! 🙂
Great pics, Lori – makes me homesick (in a sense 😊) for when we lived in Galveston, or visited along Lake Champlain in Vermont even ♥️ Way back in the 70s we lived in Ft Walton Beach for a couple of years when I was in the Air Force, what a beautiful place!
Thanks!! We really enjoyed being on the beach. Plan on going back for another long weekend in a couple of months to visit/check on Steve’s mum again! Thanks for reading, Adan. Hope all is well with you!! Lori
Doing pretty good thank goodness 😊 gearing up for a move in a few weeks to a smaller place but nearer to family here in Austin. The sorting & prep is what’s so hard in our 70s, lol! Hope y’all get to visit Steve’s mom again soon ❤️
Hope your move goes smoothly! Glad all is well!!❤️
I didn’t know starfish could have nine legs! Great photos!
I didn’t either, I’m pretty sure it’s a starfish but that did make me wonder!!
I’ve never been there, but I can tell from your lovely photos that I would love it! Morning walks are a favorite with me, and I could see myself right there.
You would definitely enjoy it!
Nice photos! I especially like the starfish.
Thank you!!!
Beautiful photos. It makes me miss the beach. We spent summer in Coastal CA when our kids were growing up. My daughter’s been to Fort Myers many times for Open Water Nationals meets and camp. She said it’s great. I should have gone with her!
We do enjoy Fort Myers! Your daughter is right it is great there!
that walk does seem like a great way to start the day. and so much wildlife along the way!
It was exactly what we needed!
Beautiful beach… love the starfish!! 💙
Thank you!
Wow, you got to travel out-of-state! The weather in Florida looks to be dreary when you visited, but there’s no denying the tropical beauty of the beach all the same. Glad you were able to get out of your house for a bit of paradise!
It was a dreary few days. We saw a bit of sun but not like we were hoping! Nonetheless, it was great to get away!
This beach looks so beautiful 😍 enjoy your family trip
Thank you!
It looks dreamy!
It was very nice!!
Florida in March. Normally, I’d say, “You’re brave,” but it doesn’t look like there are any spring breakers there. Is this a place spring break crowds don’t go to? I starting a collection of Florida beach destinations in my mind that don’t get any spring breakers in case I ever crave the beach (instead of the desert) on one of my spring breaks).
There were spring breakers but where we stayed they were mostly families with kids! The town square was very busy with them but we just avoided that area! My husband is more of a beach fan than I. I love mountains and canyons but enjoy the beaches when we are there!
It is a beautiful beach..visited many times..beautiful photos.
Thanks! It is a favorite that is for sure!!
We love Ft. Myers! Going to Lani Kai in July, I have been thinking about trying the Pink Shell. Looks wonderful!
Have not stayed at Lani Kai but have enjoyed a sunset dinner at the restaurant on the roof!
My favorite is Clearwater beach and that’s the one I have been to many times. This one seems beautiful too with white sands and birds. Glad you all have good beach time in March
I have not been to Clearwater but have heard it is wonderful! Was great to have some beach time again!
Cool cloudy weather sounds perfect for a Canadian beach holiday. I recall getting a really bad sunburn on my feet at St. Petes beach because I stupidly left them outside the cabana. And that was in February. My pale Anglo Saxon skin needs more protectio9n, I guess. Hope all is well Lori. Allan
That sounds painful! All is well here, I have been much busier at work than I planned to be but that is starting to slow down! Hoping to get back to blogging this week or next!
