It is hard to decide which beaches to see while on Milos Island in Greece, as there are so many. Milos Island is well known for its many unique and stunningly beautiful beaches. A beach day or two is time well spent while on the island. All in all, the beaches are relatively easy to visit since the island is small. We originally visited Milos Island in October of 2018 and just recently returned in September 2025. During both trips, we made sure to visit lots of beaches. This post combines the beaches we visited both in 2018 and 2025. Some of these beaches I have written blog posts on, which I have added links you can click if you want to learn more.

Locations
These beaches that we visited are located traveling east and clockwise from Pollonia, as this is where we stayed.
Tria Pigadia Beach
This is one of the beaches on Milos Island where you can find true peace, tranquility, and relaxation. It is 9.1 km (20 miles) from Pollonia. Due to its remote location and a bit of difficulty getting here by car, we were the only ones here. I love it when this happens. This rocky beach includes some dramatic cliffs on its side borders and very few trees, so it is a hot beach. It is also an unorganized beach, so you won’t find any umbrellas for shade either. We spent quite a bit of time here just walking along the shore and sitting on the rocks. Truly a peaceful place.

Thiorichio Beach
Thiorichio Beach is on the eastern coast of Milos Island, and it is unlike any beach I have been to. Not because the beach itself is so unusual, but because the ruins of an old sulfur mine are set close to the shore, giving this beach an eerie feeling. This beach is truly off the beaten path and can be accessed via boat or by driving your car down (and back up) a narrow-gauge rock road along the cliff. We chose to visit here by car in 2025. I go back and forth between whether I would do the drive again or take the boat, as the road was quite the nail-biter.

Agia Kiriaki Beach
Agia Kiriaki Beach is where we drove to for our boat tour with Milos Sea Tours. It is about 16 km (9.94 miles) south of Pollonia. It took us longer than we had thought it would to drive this road, about half an hour. Coming into Agia Kiriaki, you will see the beach below, and the views are beautiful. This beach has pebbly rocks and also the beautiful, crystal-clear blue water we love in Greece. You can also find a taverna and beach bar here.

Tsigrado Beach
This beach is located on the south side of Milos, less than 16 km (10 miles) from Pollonia. I love the unique access to this small beach! The path consists of climbing ladders and ropes. So much fun! I did not feel it was a difficult climb down or up, just need to be careful of footing. The whitish sand on the beach and steep surrounding cliffs are a beautiful contrast to the blue Aegean Sea. The beach area is basically a small cove with interesting surrounding rock formations. We visited this beach in 2018. During the entire time we were here, there were only 2 other people on this beach. In comparison, it was quite crowded just in the parking area in 2025. Because of this, we decided not to visit this beach again and instead remember it as we experienced this beach in 2018.

Firiplaka Beach
We found this gem in 2018, and it is another one of the beaches of Milos Island you won’t want to miss. You can find Firiplaka Beach on the southern coast of Milos, only a few minutes away from Tsigrado Beach. We parked the ATV at the top of a cliff and walked an easy 5-10 minute path leading down to the beach. This beach boasts a beach bar, lounge chairs, and also umbrellas. This beach is a pebbly, rocky beach. The cliffs along the beach display beautiful colors of oranges, yellows, and pinks, which volcanoes formed years ago. We spent more time than we thought we would here as we enjoyed walking around the colorful rocks.

Kleftiko Bay and Beach
Kleftiko is one of the top beaches on Milos Island, and rightfully so. The dramatic white rocks, cliffs, and sea caves are truly a beautiful sight. In 2018, we tried to visit here, but the water was too rough, so our boat tour was not able to sail here.
In 2025, we came back and took an amazing boat tour with Milos Sea Tours. We loved every moment of it.
During our tour over the perfectly clear blue, green, and turquoise water, we got to see the most amazing places. I think the most remarkable view that impressed me is the tall white volcanic rock cliffs along the shore, which are a beautiful contrast to the blue of the sea and the sky. White rocks jut out of the water as if someone placed them there; some of the rocks have arches that make for a fun passageway as you drift underneath them. In addition, the sea caves offer a cool relief from the hot summer sun, and some are also large enough for your boat to fit in. The gorgeous blue water is perfect for swimming, floating, snorkeling, and also just splashing around. This iconic bay is one of the main attractions of Milos Island.

Plathiena Beach
Located 13.8 km (8.6 miles) W of Pollonia and 3.1 km (1.9 miles) NW of Plaka, this quiet beach is a peaceful beauty. Although you do travel a dirt road to get here, it is not a bad drive. This beach is set in a cove which protects it from some of the wind. There is a mixture of sand and rocks along this beach. I have read that the sunsets are beautiful from this pretty beach.

Firopatamos Beach
We explored this lovely beach area in both 2018 and 2025. It is just picture-perfect and another one of the must-see beaches on Milos Island. Firopotamos Beach is in the northern area of Milos, just 12.8 km (8 miles) west of Pollonia. What is unique about this beach is the ruin of a large doorway on a hilltop above the small fishing village of Firopotamos. The doorway frames the sea beautifully. I have read the ruins are of unknown use and origin, which makes it fun to imagine what their use was. There is also a small church with a beautiful interior just down from the ruin. Below the church is a village along the shore down from the cliff. Firopotamos Beach is at the far end of the village.

Mandrakia Beach
This beach is one of the locations of the lovely fishing villages you can find on Milos Island. Boathouses line this rocky shore, and the water is crystal clear. There is also a taverna here called Medusa, which appears quite popular.

Sarakiniko Beach
Sarakiniko Beach is 8.8 km (5.5 miles) from Pollonia on the north shore of Milos. This is a must-do spot to put on your list. It is the iconic, moonscape beach for which Milos is known. We were here in both 2018 and 2025. This beach is unusual because it is made of smooth white sandstone, which has eroded over time due to wind and water; consequently, there is virtually no sand. This odd landscape looks like it belongs on another planet or maybe the moon. There isn’t much of a typical beach at Sarakiniko, but there is a small sandy area. There are also places to cliff jump. The turquoise blue water is not only beautiful, it is also clear as a bell. This was the most populated beach we visited in both 2018 and 2025.
These first photos are from 2018.

Here are photos from sunrise 2025.

Tunnels at Sarakaniko Beach
Along with the beach, there are also some tunnels here. These man-made tunnels are behind Sarakiniko Beach. Make sure to take a light and be very careful. We just stayed in the main tunnel and did not explore any of the branches. I believe these were mining tunnels from what I have read, but I am not sure.

Algomandra Beach
This beach is 8.2 km (5.1 miles) west of Pollonia. We found this lovely spot in 2025. It is worth stopping at, as it has a lovely sea cave. You have to search a bit to find the sea cave. You will first come across the main beach, and the sea cave is around the inlet in a small cove. There is an arrow pointing the way. The cove itself is a hidden gem in itself. Along with the sea cave, there is a small fishing garage here. It is absolutely a beautiful area. The water was a bit too wild for us to swim this day, but it made for dramatic photos as the waves hit the rocky shore.

Kapros Beach
We explored this beach in 2025. This beach is just down the road from Papafragas Beach and 2.7 km (1.7 miles) from Pollonia. We parked at a spot just off the side of the road and walked down here. It was a very scenic walk, and we enjoyed climbing around on the rocky cliffs on the side. The beach itself was small and sandy. It was too windy for swimming, but we enjoyed this area anyway.

Papafragas Beach
Papafragas Beach is located on the north of Milos and is about 1.5 miles from Pollonia and 3.75 miles from Sarakiniko Beach. This is another beach that has a really unique way to get to, which we could partly access in 2018. There is parking at the top. The trail is near a canal and easy to find. Once at the bottom of the canal, you must swim through the cave at the end of the canal to reach the beach. Unfortunately, we could only go down the path partway in 2018 as it was washed out the rest of the way. In 2025, much to our dismay, it was inaccessible.
Photos from 2018. I would have loved to make it to the bottom and swim through the tunnel!

In 2025, although this path was completely inaccessible and did not seem to have a way to go down there, Steve did catch a good photo. We actually walked from Kapros Beach over the top to the Papafragas parking lot and then back. It made for a nice short walk but was very scenic.

Conclusion
These are only some of the beaches on Milos Island but as you can see, they are amazing. All in all, I would return to Milos Islands for a third time if it works out on one of our future trips. Although I would always love more time on Milos Island, my next post finds us returning to Crete.

So many gorgeous photos Lori. We do not sit on beaches, but can appreciate the beauty and walking across them. Happy Sunday. Allan
Thank you, Allan. We are not good beach sitters either, either swimming or walking. Have a great month of March!
What a nice adventure. Ever think about learning to sail now that you live along a coast, or to drive a power boat, then maybe rent one if possible on one of your trips to just anchor offshore and enjoy some island life that way? Paul H. wants to know.
Tell Paul H we have rented small boats without a license. We have thought about renting a boat with some other people and anchoring offshore, but the problem is if the winds come up and they donโt allow the boats to go from place to place we could get stuck somewhere for a day or two or maybe even three. Not that being stuck on a Greek island is a problem, but we wouldnโt make it to our next destination. But you never know! Have a great month, Jerry! Weather should be getting nicer there. We have gone completely southern and just the two months weโve been here. You should hear us complaining about the weather when itโs in the 50s. Itโs soooo cold.lol. Lori
These photos are so entertaining, with the sunset at the top, a beautiful reward after a day of exploring.
Yes it is. Just beautiful! Have a great March!
beautiful pictures
Thank you!
Just beautifullll ๐
It is truly a lovely island!
Beautiful!!!
We loved it here.
BTW, are you receiving updates on my posts? Some people mentioned they werenโt getting updates, so I just wanted to double-check. Thanks!
I have not. Let me know hat to do to receive them.
These beaches and coastal views look lovely. Wish I was there right now to escape the cold of winter!
It would really be a great place to be now.
