Bridal Veil Falls in Telluride, Colorado was one of our must sees during our Sept/Oct 2020 road trip. We decided to drive to the top of the falls instead of hike as we would be hiking Silver Lake later that day.
Bridal Veil Falls is a 365 foot waterfall flowing off a cliff into the valley below just outside of Telluride, Colorado.

Location
Bridal Veil Falls is located East of Telluride. To get there, drive through town and follow the road past a Mill, you will see parking on the right. You can view the bottom of the falls from here. You can also hike or bike from here as well.
Top of the Falls
If you have a 4×4 high clearance vehicle you can drive to the top of the Falls and the Power Plant building. Although the road is unimproved, it is doable if you are careful and slow.

The road is a narrow dirt road with some switch backs. As a matter of fact, this is the end of the Black Bear Pass which comes from the summit of Red Mountain Pass. Also, be very careful as vehicles have been known to go off the edge.

In addition, the road up provides fantastic views of Telluride and the valley below.

There are also pullouts where you can view Bridal Veil Falls.

We really enjoyed Bridal Veil Falls. We loved the tree colors and also could see so far. You can not drive beyond the gate so will have to park along the road. That being said, park so other cars can pass you. In addition to seeing the falls, we\ hiked to Silver Lake after our drive up, which I will post next week.
Telluride
We absolutely love the town of Telluride. In fact, it is exactly how we would expect a quaint mountain town to look like. Many of the shops were closed due to Covid, but we just enjoyed walking through the town.

Gondola Ride
There is a gondola in town which we rode on to the first stop, enjoying the ride and also the fall foliage. We could have rode all the way to nearby Mountain Village, but we had restaurant reservations and didn’t want to miss them. Something for next time we visit here.

Where We Ate
We dined outdoors at Rustic Ristorante. An Italian restaurant that with excellent food and service in addition the ambiance was great. As we had not eaten at a restaurant for many days, we were very excited! (Most had been carry out, or we ate from our cooler due to Covid). We were famished and were not only able to eat our meals, but also shared a desert! The Tiramisu was the best I have ever had! I also enjoyed a glass of Prosecco. If you are in Telluride, I highly recommend this restaurant. You can check their web site here, Rustic Ristorante.

Where We Stayed
While in Telluride we stayed at The Hotel Telluride for two nights. This hotel was exceptional even with the Covid restrictions. The room was spacious and the bed was so comfortable. The staff was also very friendly, helpful and accommodating. You can check their website out here, The Hotel Telluride.

Restaurant, lodging and tour recomendations are based on our opinion. We do not have any affiliates with any of these nor do we receive any commission for recomending a place. We only recommend places we have been to and feel have great service and are also exceptional.
Conclusion
In conclusion, we absolutely loved Telluride and can’t wait to come back! Bridal Veil Falls is definitely a must see in Telluride and in addition the 4×4 road was fun.

Looks like a spectacular adventure. Not sure I would take my Prius up the road to Bridal Veil Falls, but the views are stunning. Glad to see they run the gondola up the ski hill in off season. We have enjoyed this at many of our ski hills. Ahhhhh, dining in a restaurant. Starting to forget how that was. We enjoyed takeout last night, but it is just not the same. Thanks for sharing Lori. Allan
I’m not sure a Prius would work up that road but you never know!!! I miss restaurants! We haven’t went since we can’t dine outside anymore. Too cold! Take out sounds great! We started getting the Blue Apron meal service just to try some new recipes and ideas. Tired of the same old meals! Thanks for reading!! Lori
The switchbacks don’t look too scary, but I’d probably feel differently about them in person. Haven’t tried one yet!
I thought they were fine but my husband was doing the driving!!
Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing. Someday I hope to visit. You put it on my list to dos.
Hope you make it there. We loved the area!
Oh man the leaves! We visited in early summer but didn’t drive all the way to the top and obviously the aspens weren’t yellow. It’s so pretty! We LOVE Telluride as well and can’t wait to go back.
It was absolutely beautiful! Definitely going there again!
Wow 😍
❤️❤️
Soo pretty! I’m excited for your post on Silver Lake, I’ve heard that’s pretty cool. Looking forward to your report!
Silver Lake was awesome! Tough for us though!
I love the colours of the trees and the waterfall. But still what a lack of imagination in the name, there are ‘Bridal Veil Falls’ all over the world 🙂
That is true! I have been to a couple of Bridal Veil Falls!
We’ve been to Telluride twice, but only for day trips. We love to shop there, though next time I really want to take the gondola.
The gondola was fun! Next time we are going to take it all the way to Mountain Village!
Wow! I’ve never heard of Telluride, but based on the towering waterfall and charming town, I just have to go! Hopefully, I can plan a roadtrip sometime soon to see more of Colorado’s beauty…thanks for sharing!
The drive to Telluride was beautiful as well!!
There’s a photo of downtown Telluride surrounded by mountains in our local pub and we’ve wanted to go ever since. The colours during the fall are gorgeous, and still quite a bit of water in the falls. Looks like a great trip!
This was a very good time for us to go. The weather was warm but not hot, not much for crowds, and the colors were beautiful. I was surprised the waterfall was flowing so well!!
What great place to see. Amazing waterfall.
It was lovely!
Your photos make me want to hit the road again. We went on a road trip a couple of months ago to Mt. Rushmore, Devils Tower, Yellowstone etc. and had such an adventure. It’s true, you can travel during Covid but just have to be careful.
That house at the top of Bridal Veil Falls is intriguing. HOw did they ever get the building materials up there???
Glad you were able to travel! The building is a power plant on the top. I don’t know how they got the building materials up there. Thanks for reading!!
Oh, those falls — and those steep rocks. How majestic!
A beautiful site to see!
