Our next stop on our September 2025 trip to Greece was Milos Island where we had a fantastic time including this boat tour to Kleftiko. Milos Island was our first ever Greek island we visited so it holds a special place in our hearts. In 2018 we enjoyed three days, not justdiscovering Milos, but discovering Greece with its traditions and culture as well. Back then we took a catamaran cruise but unfortunately were told the waters were too rough to go to Kleftiko so we decided we would return someday. And that someday finally was here!

Milos Sea Tours
We choose Milos Sea Tours after reading a recommendation on the Facebook group Milos Island. (As a side note here, this Facebook group provides a lot of useful information from locals and those who have traveled here). They have several options and sizes for boats to fit whatever you may need. Milos Sea Tours did not disappoint and was perfect for us to explore the island by sea and not just see Kleftiko, but many other areas as well. If you prefer a group tour instead you can check out Viator at their link here. for various types of group tours.
We booked a private tour with a Skipper. You can rent a boat and skipper it yourself, which we usually do, but this time we thought a guide would know the ins and outs. From the minute I booked until our tour was over, Milos Sea Tours were professional, easy to get along with, and easy to contact. We ended up running late as we miscalculated the time it would take to drive from our hotel to the boat launch, I emailed the company and they replied almost instantly and assured us this was not a problem. Once we reached the destination, the paperwork was quick and straight forward. Our skipper was fantastic. He took us to so many amazing spots and was so informative. We truly enjoyed chatting with him and he really made the trip enjoyable!

Agia Kyriaki Port
We drove from our hotel to Agia Kyriaki Port where our skipper was waiting for us. It was a nice hot sunny day and perfect for a boat ride. Agia Kyriaki Port is along the southern coast of Milos with a beautiful beach complete with sunbeds and umbrellas. There are also tavernas at this port. We walked along the wood planks and happily settled ourselves in our little boat. We told our skipper, other than wanting to see Kleftiko for sure we were open to anywhere he wanted to take us.

The Boat Tour
We first traveled east along the coast, enjoying the beautiful blue of the Aegean Sea, with the wind in our hair and the sun overhead. It was perfect. We slowly passed many of the beautiful rock formations and the abandoned sulfur mines at Thiorichio. I really enjoyed seeing Thiorichio as we planned on exploring the old sulfur mines in the next couple of days. We enjoyed hearing about the area from our skipper. He was very knowledgeable and made the adventure more fun with interesting conversation.

I will never forget the beautiful colors of the sea here. The shades of blue and green are so calming and the water is so amazingly clear.

We turned and headed west and followed along the southern shore of Milos Island towards the famous Kleftiko. As we approached Kleftiko, the scenery became more and more beautifuOur skipper knew the best spots to stop, where the water was perfect for swimming and the areas which were less crowded. At one of our stops, we watched a fisherman on his boat fishing who pointed out a large sea turtle. It was a lot of fun watching the playful turtle poke his head up out of the water periodically while teasingly swimming around the boats.

Kleftiko
The highlight of our trip was of course the famous rocks and arches of Kleftiko Beach. Our boat trip in 2018 did not make it here so we had been waiting a long time to see this amazingly beautiful area. And it was indeed beautiful. l. The white rocks jutting out of the sea are a spectacular contrast with the blue sea and blue sky. We enjoyed floating around the rocks, under the arches and just taking it all in. Our skipper expertly wound his way through the rock formations and made Kleftiko even more wonderful for us.

Back to Agia Kyriaki Port
After Kleftiko we made our way slowly back to the port. The wind had picked up and the water became a bit rough which made this trip even more adventurous. Although the trip was a lot of fun, at this point we were very glad we had hired a skipper. Once back we were all smiles after such an exhilarating experience. Spending the day on the sea on Milos Island and seeing the beautiful Kelftiko is yet another fantastic memory as we continue to love our trips to Greece.
Conclusion
In conclusion, I highly suggest a boat trip to Kleftiko while visiting Milos Island in Greece. I also suggest if you rent a boat on your own to hire a Skipper. Usually we enjoy renting a boat on our own, but hiring a skipper allowed us to just sit back and enjoy and be taken to the best spots. Places we would not have known of. I also highly recommend Milos Sea Tours. They do a fantastic job. Click on this link and check them out, they have several options for boat rentals. What a great tour Lori. Sometimes it is better to pay the price and get the local knowledge and history, rather than fumbling around on your own. Thanks for sharing. Allan
I agree, Allan. In this case it was really the way to go. Our guide was so good, it was especially nice that he knew the best and safest swimming spots! Lori
Looks gorgeous Lori. I usually hate boat torus because they are often party boats, but this one looks perfect. Maggie
Hi Maggie! We keep away from the party boat tours as well. Just the two of us and the skipper so it was perfect! Lori
Beautiful pictures! Iโve only spent a few days in Greece, so itโs on my list to visit again for a longer period of time.
Thank you! Greece is so very photogenic!
What a chance encounter with an adorable turtle! A boat trip around Kleftiko sounds like a convenient and beautiful way to experience that part of Greece, and it looks like you had a fun time! Thanks for sharing ๐
The turtle was so fun to see! Made the trip extra fun!
Another lovely tour. Bravo. You do this so very well.
