During our June 2024 trip to Bryce Canyon we stayed in the Western Cabins which are part of the Bryce Canyon Lodge complex and located right in the middle of everything within the National Park. We stayed here in 2020 and loved it so decided to stay here again.
Why Stay at Bryce Canyon Lodge and Western Cabins?
A big advantage of staying here is you are within walking distance of many of the canyons trails, not to mention, the canyon’s edge and four of the view points are just a few steps from your door. In addition, you can easily catch the Bryce Canyon shuttle bus at the lodge, the restaurant here is very good, and the cabins are peaceful and comfortable.
One thing to know is there is no tv or WiFi service in the cabins. You get to totally unwind and get away from the rat race. There is WiFi in the lodge though and also we had pretty good WiFi service along the canyon edge and while we were hiking in the canyon.
The Western Cabins
The western cabins are rustic and yet cosy. The corner fireplace came in very handy on this trip, even though it was June, when the sun goes down it gets quite chilly and the fireplace added a bit of romance and warmth to the evenings and early mornings. Of course there is modern heating as well, but the fireplace really added to the ambiance. Each cabins have their own porch which was a perfect spot for reading or just relaxing.
Bryce Canyon Lodge
The lodge is just a minute or two from the cabins and in addition to lodge rooms, there is a gift shop, restaurant, and lounge area with a huge fireplace. You get a western, almost old fashion feel the minute you walk in.
Bryce Canyon Restaurant
Mornings in the Lodge’s restaurant consist of a nice Buffett with plenty of choices and good coffee. We ate here each morning to fuel up before hiking.
Dinner was delicious and included several healthy choices. We don’t normally eat in the same place every night of a trip but the meals were quite good, the ambiance was nice, and it was convenient. We also enjoyed chatting with our server, Laura ,each night. She was not only excellent at what she does, but she was fun and interesting to talk to. So all in all, eating here was the perfect choice for us.
Conclusion
Bryce Canyon Lodge and Western Cabins is the perfect place to stay when visiting Bryce Canyon National Park and the surrounding area. It’s convenient, comfortable, and peaceful.
Planning Our Utah Trip
While planning our trip to Bryce Canyon, I used the Falcon Guide Book, Hiking Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks and there is good information on the Fairyland Loop as well as other trails. You can buy it on Amazon through the link. I also use a map, the Bryce Canyon National Geographic Map, which you can also purchase at the lodge gift shop. It worked well for basic navigation, but it wasn’t detailed for hiking.
I also like the Falcon Guide Book for Escalante, Hiking Grand Staircase Escalante and Glen Canyon Region, available on Amazon. Additionally, I used the National Geographic Grand Staircase Escalante Map for this area. In Escalante, we lost GPS service for a while, so even though there are good signs, having the map was helpful.
We also watch lots of You Tube videos on the areas we want to go and get some great ideas. I can’t think of any particular channel we follow, we just google and watch whatever comes up.

It definitely beats a tent! We gave up the tent after a trip down to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. Decided day hikes were more our thing these days !
Looks rustic, but very comfy! As for having limiting Wi-fi, I think it’s great to disconnect from time to time and just enjoy the great outdoors. The Bryce Canyon Lodge and Western Cabins look like a lovely stay, and I’m glad you enjoyed your time there!

We find a lot of places like this in Greece, of course off the beaten path!
