Delfino Blu Boutique Hotel-Corfu, Greece

Delfino Blu Boutique Hotel in Corfu, Greece is one place I will never forget and hope to return to. Located in Agios Stefanos, NW Corfu, this award winning Boutique Hotel has everything you could want and more! The hotel is spectacular and the staff is spectacular also! Location

Located on the NW part of Corfu along the Ionian Coast, Delfino Blu Hotel is adjacent to a beautiful beach with stunning sea views. In addition, it is within walking distance to shops and also tavernas.

Arrival

After a busy day of traveling by ferry to Corfu, hiking down to Gialia Beach, and finally driving the narrow twisting roads we were ready for some rest and relaxation. Delfino Blu Hotel was the perfect place for us. We realized this upon arrival. As we entered through the courtyard and into the reception area we were greeted warmly and with smiles. We particularly noticed how exceptionally clean this hotel was, not just upon entry, but the entire resort was spotless.

While checking in, we were escorted to the dining area where we were given welcome treats and drinks. This was perfect as we had missed lunch and found the treats to be very refreshing. All in all, Steve and I just sat back relaxing while marveling at this lovely place.

Our Room

Once we were done enjoying our refreshments we were escorted to our room. The grand staircase up to the room gave a pretense of what we were about to discover. Above all, our room was absolutely lovely. Especially comfortable and spacious. In addition, I could not believe the view from the roomy balcony. I could see the pool below and also the beach and sea. The balcony became a perfect spot for both of us to just sit and rewind at the end of the day and to sit and enjoy the beginning of the next day. Much to our surprise there was also a treat for us in the refrigerator. In addition we also had a complimentary bowl of fruit and a bottle of wine.

Pool

The pool was wonderful and relaxing with lounge chairs surrounding it. It also was a great place to relax at the end of the day.

Beach

Delfino Blu Hotel overlooks the beach in Agios Stefanos in Corfu. It is a nice clean sandy beach, in fact, we had a fun time swimming here.

Sunset

Another plus to staying here is the marvelous sunsets. Beautiful tranquility from our room, the pool, and also the dining room.

Dining

We choose to dine at the on site restaurant this first night. As a matter of fact, it was so good we returned many nights. Normally we try many different places when we stay for a length of time at a hotel. It was different here. Each night the meals were uniquely Greek, well presented, and fabulous. We did not choose the half board but if we were to visit here again we would. We did eat out at other places during the day and also on one evening, but I can honestly say I really enjoyed the food, service and vibe here at Delfino Blu. A special mention to the dining staff. They were marvelous. Always smiling, friendly and patiently explaining items we were not familiar with.

Breakfast

Being impressed to the max with dinner, the room and the resort I can not explain how impressed we were with the Breakfast Buffett. Not only is it an elaborate spread but everything was so tasty. The honey at the Buffett was from the owner, Kostas’ family bee hives!

Above and Beyond

I really feel there are more times than I can mention this staff went above and beyond to assure our comfort. First of all I would like to mention Kostas, the owner. Each time he saw us he would chat and make sure all was well. He also organized boat rental for us. He not only organized it, he gave us great tips and information where to go, which beaches to stop at and how long it would take us to go to each place. The information was invaluable. He also arranged for a packed lunch for us to take on the boat. In addition to all of this, when we left he gifted us a package of Greek goodies, including honey from his family’s hives. He truly made us feel appreciated.

George is also a person who went above and beyond. Always greeting us with a smile. I have a torn meniscus and after some of our adventures came back limping a bit. He made sure to make me up a bag of ice and would inquire how my knee was doing. Such a kind man.

At dinner each night, one of the ladies helped me with my Greek when I ordered and during our meals. She was very patient with my pronunciations and helped me with many words. She also gave me encouragement and would speak to me in Greek slowly so I could understand. I will always remember her as she gave me some confidence that someday I might speak more than broken Greek!

There were other staff members also who were just wonderful to us as well. Young Kostas at the outdoor bar was always friendly with a hello and remembered what drinks we liked! He gave suggestions too.

Conclusion

As a result of all of the above, I really loved staying at the Delfino Blu Boutique Hotel in Corfu. As much as we travel, I have never had such exemplary hospitality and service as I have had in so many places in Greece. It is the normal when we travel here. To summarize, Delfino Blu went even above and beyond what we have learned to be called philoxenia in Greece, meaning friend to strangers. In essence, Greek hospitality.
