Lecce, Italy is a city in the Puglia area and was both the starting and ending spot of our wandering through the heal of the Italian boot. This was day nine of the tour group I joined which was walking/hiking in the Puglia area. We spent a total of three nights and one full day in Lecce and I thoroughly enjoyed the baroque architecture and this city’s vibe.

Our last full day of touring was spent following our guide around Lecce and then having a bit of free time to either shop, relax or take a paper-mache class. Although a paper-mache class sounded fun, I decided to shop as I really wanted to grab a few souvenirs.
I really do not remember all of the places we passed by. This post is mainly a collection of photos of the old town streets, buildings and churches. Notice how the buildings have a yellowish hue to them. They have been built with Lecce stone which is native only to this area.

Where We Ate
Although we dined at the same place all three nights, I enjoyed each meal.

Where We Stayed
We stayed at Up Room and Suites. Situated on a side street which proved to be a perfect place to base for wandering around Lecce, Italy! It was quaint, clean and quiet. There was also a nice little patio area just off of some of the rooms.

Conclusion
Wandering in Lecce, Italy was so much fun. There is so much to see and just hanging out and feeling the vibe of the city is wonderful. This also ends my posts from my April 2022 trip. It was a nice trip. If you would like a trip like this, I would recommend booking directly from the Italian travel group, Salento Bici Tour. Our guide did a wonderful job and she was also very knowledgeable. The Salento group also did all of the leg work and organization of the Puglia area tour. Booking directly with them would have saved a considerable amount of money, hassle, and misinformation compared to booking with the US middleman tour group.

European city Old Towns are a delight and staying in or near them makes for a much better stay. Staying or walking in the Old Town in N/A can be risky. The architecture and food look amazing Lori. Thanks for taking us on your trip. Allan
I do love Old town European cities!!
So your trip without hubby, did that mean you had to cook dinner at home for six months? The food on these trips always leaves me hungry. jerry
Lol. I’ve been cooking dinner at home for the last 6 years!!!
Nice way to end a wonderful trip! Again, those churches never cease to astound me: their beauty, their age. It’s interesting to see buildings that are 300 years older than the city we live in! Looking forward to your next trip, as we will be tagging along via your posts. Thanks so much for sharing!!
Thanks for coming along! I do appreciate it! We spent last weekend in Savannah, Georgia and just wandered around, I haven’t started on the post yet for that but soon. August takes me to Colorado but I will spend more time with my baby grandson than hiking. September takes Steve and I back to Greece! This year we plan on Delphi, Meteora and also Corfu! I am excited! Thanks again for following!! Lori
😳😬🤫🤗🥴 Mea Culpa…..
😊😊
Glad to have followed you throughout this whole time in Italy! Puglia is a part of the country that I’ve yet to visit, and the food, hike, and views look all too great! Can’t wait to see where else you go in this world. 🙂
Thank you for following me, Rebecca! I hope you enjoyed it! Puglia is truly a great place to visit and it is fun to see as it isn’t as touristy. Last weekend we visited Savannah,Georgia so hopefully I will get a post out soon. The future finds me in Colorado in August, although I may not get out much as I am so happy to spend time with my grand baby out there! In September it is back to Greece for us! This time though we are going to spend some time on the mainland and Corfu! Enjoy the rest of your summer!! Lori
I loved my one trip to Italy. Enough that I know I want to go back and spend a month there. I never thought about a walking tour – you’ve inspired me!
I am hoping to return to a Italy some day as well!
Thanks for introducing me to a new term in a “new” place. I love your pictures and would love to visit here. I’m going to keep the name of your tour company handy because I know what you mean about middle-man USA travel agents. In their defense, however, we would not have seen half of what we enjoyed most in Europe and Morocco without the support of our wonderful agent. Thanks for a lovely tour through this post.
It was a great place and the tour company was really fantastic. Our guide was from the area so she new every nook and cranny. And yes? Tour company’s do have their benefits. This was the first USA company I have used and Unfortunately there were issues. I would guess a different company would hopefully be better. I have used European agents I. The last and have had very few problems. I think it helps when the agent is from their own country but also have a US following. Who knows. I just like to travel!!🤣
We do as well.
