Athens on Our Anniversary
Sept 22, 2019. Kalimera!!! It was a beautiful day and I was so excited. I couldn’t stop grinning (or talking) as we were arriving in Athens on our anniversary. Actually it is our first year anniversary and what better place to celebrate our first year than to return to Greece!
The next couple of weeks Steve and I spent in Greece! We enjoyed Athens, Crete, and Santorini! We saw so many places including seeing lots of historical sites, hiking, playing in the sea, and eating a ton of wonderful Greek food!! I decided not to post each day and instead enjoyed every minute I can while there. I can’t begin to say how excited I am to be in Athens on our anniversary!
Where We Stayed in Athens
We stayed at The Electra Palace while in Athens. It was lovely and included a roof top pool and restaurant with an Acropolis view. Located in The Plaka Area of Athens it was in walking distance to the Acropolis.
Diary of a Gen-X recommendations for hotels and restaurants are based on our own experiences. We do not receive compensation for recommending at any of these nor are we affiliates of any hotels or restaurants. The only hotels we recommend are places we stayed which were clean, comfortable, and provided exceptional hospitality. The restaurants we recommend are also places we have been to and enjoyed.
Last year we brought the Rick Steves Pocket Athens guidebook with us and found a lot of useful information in it. We used it to help plan our trip prior to visiting. We also used it as a guide throughout our stay in Athens. I thought it was especially helpful when exploring the Acropolis and Parthenon.
This year we added Top 10 Athens to our trip planning. This book was spectacular and I really loved the way it was organized. I felt it was very easy to follow.
