I absolutely love Greek olive oil and honey so I was more than excited to see the Morea Olive Oil Store and press during our August 2024 trip to the Mani Peninsula in Greece. We knew we liked the olive oil and olives as they were served at one of the places we dined at while in the Mani.
Location
History
The Mani Penisnsula has a long history of being one of the best producers of honey and olive oils since ancient times. Olive trees grow in abundance throughout the region. The Morea stone mill continues to produce olive oil in the traditional way following the method used for the last thousand years. One of few to continue producing this way.

The Shop
When we stepped in this shop it was an olive oil and honey heaven! So many different olive oils to sample! I do believe we tried them all! We brought home lemon, orange, and Chile infused. In addition we also brought back regular extra virgin olive oil. We are still enjoying the various oils several months later!

We also sampled the honey which came in several varieties and of course we bought a few jars to take home. And as if we didn’t buy enough, we also bought a jar of Kalamata olives and a jar of green olives. The shop has other products as well such as wine, tsipouro, and olive wood products.

The Mill
The mill, which is connected to the shop, was not active the day we were here as it was not harvest season. We saw the large stone presses and the vats and tried to picture the production process.

Conclusion
Stopping and sampling the olive oil and also the honey at Morea was a fun little stop as we drove through the Mani Peninsula of Greece. They do have an online shop but it cannot be imported to the USA.
Where I Order Greek Olive Oil in the US
I have mentioned before that once our stash of olive oil and honey runs out after we return home, we purchase both olive oil and honey through Klio Tea. Klio Tea has Kalamata PDA single origin Olive oil and also several varieties of Greek honey. Klio offers great, prompt service and delicious wholesome products. You can order through them at this Klio Tea link.
I also have ordered Tassos Greek Olive Oil from Amazon and you can view this product here. This particular Greek Olive Oil works well for cooking.

I love these types of tours, where you have time to appreciate the subtle differences in locally made products. We did an olive oil and balsamic vinegar tasting on a food tour in Nice and it was a highlight. Happy Thursday Lori. Allan
