Although I don’t blog about each place we stay, I do like to shout out for some of the places that have really enhanced our trips, and Anthemion Suites and Villas in Nafplio, Greece, is one of those special places. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, this lovely place was filled with friendly people, surrounded by comfort , and a relaxing atmosphere. In addition, it is locally owned, which is always a plus!

Location
Anthemion Suites is located on the northeast side of Nafplio, Greece. It is about a 15-20 minute walk to the harbor and old town, regardless it is in a peaceful setting, and it was so relaxing the distance didn’t matter to us. We actually drove to the harbor parking when we visited Nafplio and had no problems finding a spot each time.
First Impressions
My first impression of Anthemion Suites is it was a special little gem and I was right. The villa itself has a park-like atmosphere with lots of flowers, trees, and greenery. There were many outdoor spots you could just sit and relax, read a book, or enjoy the villa. The staff were super friendly and very informative about not just Nafplio, but the surrounding area as well.
Our Room
We both loved our room! Although it was not really large, it was comfortable and the balcony was a nice size, providing ample space for us to sit and unwind. Speaking of the balcony, the view was amazing, stretching out over the countryside. The rolling hills were covered with olive groves and for me, it was just a relaxing view that was a great way to start and end my day. The gentle breeze brought with it the wonderful scent of the Greek countryside enhancing the overall experience. You could also see the pool and dining area, which were reminiscent of being situated in a courtyard, adding to the charm of the entire ambiance. This perfect combination of comfort, beauty, and tranquility made our stay truly memorable.

Breakfast
Breakfast was very good, served buffet style with lots of healthy choices. You could choose to sit inside or outside along the pool. We chose outside dining each day, enjoying the gentle morning breeze and the warmth of the sun filtering through the branches. It was a very peaceful start to our day as we sipped our coffees under a shady tree and planned our day.

Dinner
We dined here for dinner on our first night. We sat alongside the pool, and the ambiance was perfect. The staff was outstanding, and our dinner was delicious. Actually, although everywhere we ate was good, this was our favorite dinner in Nafplio. I believe the food was locally sourced, much of it, if not all, from their own garden. Had we stayed more nights in Nafplio, we would have definitely eaten here again.

The Pool
As always, we enjoy a pool; even if we have been swimming in the sea all day under the bright sun, it is still nice to relax in the refreshing water of the pool. The pool here is a nice size, ideal for leisurely swimming and the loungers are very comfortable, perfect for enjoying an afternoon Freddo. The atmosphere is peaceful, making it a perfect place to unwind especially after the very hot days we had been experiencing.

Conclusion
Anthemion Suites and Villas is the perfect spot for a stay in Nafplio, Greece. It was easy to get access, parking was no problem, and everyone was friendly and helpful. We are hoping to return to Nafplio again and we will absolutely stay here again!
Greece at Home
I have had a hard time finding Greek items that I love for my home in the United States. Below are a few links to items I have found to be dependable and great items. I actually use all of these items almost on a daily basis!
- For true Greek honey, mountain tea, and and also olive oil, I order online through Kilo Tea. They are prompt and in addition, I have never had problems with any of my orders. I highly recommend ordering from here as everything is delicious. You can click here to view and also order the Klio Tea products.
- If you like to cook and bake, why not prepare Greek food at home? I have looked at many Greek recipes and my tried and true Greek cookbook is A Drop of Ladi and My Greek Soul. by Krystina Kalapothakos. This is more than just another cook book. Chef Krystina includes first hand information of Greece, Greek foods, stories and more. Also check out her blog here!
- A Greek product I love that I can order from home is Korres Skin care. This line of skin products uses natural products from around Greece and I really can feel and see the difference. You can check out my favorite product by clicking here.
Books About the Peloponnese
I love to read and I read many books about Greece. The following helped spike my interest in the Peloponnese area of Greece for many different reasons.
- Greek Letters (Greek Quartet Series) by Suzi Stembridge This captivating series follows an Englishman and his family and their connection to Greece. The series starts in 1827 as the Englishman, on his journey to Greece, finds himself in the middle of Greece fighting for its freedom. The 4 volumes follow the rich history of Greece as it overcomes the Ottoman rule and beyond. I really learned a lot about this time period of Greek history from reading these books. I also found the history of this era of the Peloponnese to be fascinating.
- A Boy Growing Up Under the Nazi Boot and the Greek Civil War by George C. Kradikas. This book is a true account of the early years of Mr Kakridas as his family endures hardships beyond compare while growing up near Sparta during occupation years. A poignant story told with the emotion and memories as only someone living through this period can retell.
- Mycenae from Myth to History This extraordinary book not only goes in-depth to the history and archeological study of ancient Mycenae, it also features photography by Robert McCabe. Actually that is why I purchased this book. Robert McCabe’s black and white photographs of the Greece we do not see are beautiful.
