Ordinary Photos #17 covers Christmas and celebrating this week. Normally we would celebrate over several days with family and friends. This year, like so many others, just the two of us and FaceTiming.
I started the week writing Christmas cards. I was a bit behind this year, no idea why, it certainly wasn’t because I have been too busy!!
I enjoyed receiving cards this year from friends and family. This card holder was my mothers and is one of my favorite Christmas decorations.
I drove some presents up to my daughter’s house for their Christmas. I felt like Santa’s sleigh!
So my daughter, always quick on the camera, snapped this while I struggled to open the door. The wreath on the door fell over my head while I tried to open the door. I decided it was just easier to set everything on the doorstep.
Being the graceful person I am, I thought I’d help Steve hang a wreath over the garage. He was amused and quick on the camera and caught the struggle. He also took over. I was fired.
Finished my Christmas baking with Buckeyes for Steve to take to work. Peanut butter and chocolate were just meant for each other!
We drove all over to find the perfect spots to take photos of the planet conjunction on the 21st. Also called the Christmas star as most people know is an alignment of Jupiter and Saturn. Many other people had the same places in mind as we did to take photos. After driving all over, Steve snapped these just a few blocks from our house on a country road. Reminded me of being at an old drive-in movie.
We started celebrating the 23rd with some hot apple cider toddies.
Christmas Eve we dressed up a bit to feel sort of festive.
Christmas Day we tried our culinary skills and made shrimp and grits. When we were in Charleston last year for Christmas we are at a restaurant called S.N.O.B. Steve loved their shrimp and grits so much he bought their cookbook in which we found the recipe. Turned out pretty good.
My youngest sent me a photo of Lucy in her Christmas dress. Lucy has attitude.
My middle child sent me a photo of Cora on Christmas morning!
My oldest sent me a photo of the Lobster Tails he and his wife made Christmas Day.
Steve’s boys and their wife and girlfriend dropped in on the 26th for a bit. We had an outdoor mask wearing Pandemic Christmas. A bit chilly but still very nice. It felt weird no hugs and staying outside but it worked for us!
This ends week #17 of Ordinary Photos. We had a great Christmas regardless of the current situation. It is nice to find gratitude each day. Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and enjoyed the holidays.
