Welcome to Ordinary Photos week #16. This week had many emotions to it. Sunday started out wonderful with a call from Steve’s Uncle Hugh who lives in Vancouver, Canada. Steve had called him a couple of times and not reached him so he was thrilled to connect and had a great time chatting.

It’s been cold so we have kept busy in the evenings putting a puzzle together in front of the fireplace.

We spent an evening walking in downtown Des Moines and enjoyed the lights at the Capitol Building.

We wandered along the riverfront in Des Moines and captured these photos with the iconic Travelers Insurance sign downtown.

I finally set out my nativity set. I haven’t felt like putting up all my decorations this year but this one was a must.

One of my favorite Christmas items. My dad made this for me years ago and I have treasured it since. Very simple yet beautiful.

Finally to end the week, Even though it’s hard to tell, Steve is very happy, excited and relieved. He just had his first Covid-19 vaccination! Hoping this is the beginning of the end. Unfortunately this pandemic will not end soon enough for so many. My dear Aunt passed this week from Covid complications. So very sad, not even her children could be with her.
This is it for well #16 of Ordinary Photos. Again, I am finding out no week is ordinary. I am grateful for all the blessings we have. Feeling very hopeful for the future and end of the pandemic! Have a Merry Christmas!
Lori
That’s a ginormous tree! Love the lights as well. Looks like a lovely week, and I can’t wait to see what next week brings for you (as it’ll be Christmas)!
Seems like Christmas is coming quickly! I hope you have a Merry Christmas!!
Sorry to her about your Aunt. Hope you have a Merry Christmas🎄 Maggie
Thanks, Maggie! Merry Christmas!!!
Are you interedsted in doing the travel challenge, 10 pics, 10 days no explanations. We’ll probably only do 7 days. Let me know and I’ll nominate you.
Thank you for asking but I probably won’t get it done. Any other time would work but after retiring from nursing last year I took a position with Public Health to start giving Covid vaccinations and I’m just not sure when I will start, possible this week but more like next week! Thank you for thinking of me though!!!
No problem 😊 Busy retirement!
Yeah… I retired young to travel more and that’s not working. Lol.. I am bored … very bored
Haha me too!
Are you interested in joining the Travel Challenge? 10 pics, 10 days no explanation. We’ll probably only do 7 days. I’ll nominate you if you are interested. Sorry if this is a duplicate message, I thought I sent already but now I can’t see it.
I am so sorry to hear about your aunt. I had a very dear friend die unexpectedly from pneumonia and COVID this week as well. I am still reeling from the news. I feel it is important to be in the spirit of Christmas. Your photos are just lovely! Prayers for a blessed holiday season, and may 2021 bring good things to us all! 🙏🏻❣
So sorry about your friend. Covid is definitely hitting everywhere. Have a wonderful Christmas and blessings for the new year❤️❤️
Not an ordinary week, for sure, Lori. Sorry to hear about your Aunt, happy for Steve. Like the city walk shots. We hope to do the same in Edmonton this next week. Stay well. Allan
Thanks Allen.
Your Sedona puzzle looks fun. We had hopes of putting together a Christmas puzzle, but never opened the box. Now, we’ll be working on Christmas in January!
Nothing wrong with that! We bought a few puzzles on our trips for long winter weekends. I’m glad we did with Covid keeping us mostly home!
So sorry about your aunt.
Thank you!
It is difficult to find the balance between what should continue to be ordinary and the tragic situations that drive us out of it. It is not indifference but resilience, we must continue to move our society forward while protecting ourselves as much as possible, the balance is difficult. I am grateful to all those who, like you, are putting themselves at the service of the community to help it overcome this sad period.
It is truly a balancing. So many questions and what if’s and not many answers. I do believe 2021 is going to be better though!
So glad he got his 1st vaccination! All the best for all of us, and prayers for your dear aunt, Lori ❤️
Thank you my friend! Have a wonderful Christmas!
I love your Sedona puzzle. I’ve really gotten into puzzling during the pandemic and will often work on my puzzle during meetings where I don’t have to turn my video on. It’s fantastic. I never thought I’d look forward to so many meetings! Happy holidays (P.S. Sorry to hear about your aunt).
Thanks! Puzzles can keep us busy for sure! This one is getting a bit frustrating towards the end now as we are making little progress! Oh well, it gives us something to do!
great photos from Des Moines; I love the nativity item your dad made for you, I’m sure it brings back good memories. And that’s great news about Steve getting the vaccination!
Thanks, Jim. Dad’s nativity is pretty special to me. He also made one for each of his 7 brothers and sisters and each of mom’s 6 brothers and sisters for Christmas the year after mom passed for a bit of remembrance. Have an wonderful Christmas!!! Lori
what a great keepsake for all your family members! he was quite skilled at it as well!
He did enjoy woodworking! He also was the best example of giving from the heart that I have known!!
What a wonderful role model to have!
I’m sorry for your aunt, Lori. Merry Christmas, dear.
