Here is week #8 of ordinary photos. It was a rather rough week starting with 2 days of snow and after that gray and dreary. We had a bit of sun one day and it looked glorious! Our covid numbers are at all time highs for hospitalizations here in Iowa. We are continuing to wear masks and social distancing even though no mandates in this state. I still trying to find gratitude in my ordinary day by day routine.

I am not a big fan of snow but it did look pretty on my geraniums that I hadn’t brought in for the winter yet.

Two days of unexpected snow found me working on a quilt. I have way too many started and am hoping to finish all of them this winter and find a good place to donate them to! (My kids have as many as they want!!! Lol!!)

Shared a charcuterie board with a friend at The Cheese Bar in Des Moines. Even though we ate inside the place was spacious and since we went mid afternoon it was just us and one other table! Finding places to social distance inside has been challenging but this worked. Plus the staff here wear masks. I won’t go to a restaurant inside or out where staff and patrons don’t wear masks.

I am grateful for a glass of Grigio every now and then!

I love to bake and decided to make a cheesecake. Does cheesecake count as comfort food?

My husband encouraged me to add this. For those who didn’t know, Ohio State played and won their first game. For the last several years we have attended the local Ohio State Game Watch at a local restaurant. With COVID numbers climbing we decided not to go. Maybe later in the season. I have noticed this flag stays up all day when they win….
Well that is it for week #8 of ordinary photos. Check out next week. Forecast is calling for more snow!
Lori
Thank you for sharing your week. It is always interesting to see what goes on in an “ordinary” week. The pictures may not be as dramatic as some of those from your travels (!), You probably made a good decision to avoid Game Watch for now. Have a good week!!
Definitely not as dramatic as my trips! One of the reasons we travel so much is that it is so ordinary where we live. No great hiking places that aren’t hours away! Not a lot of culture or other activities. Not complaining, just how it is! But we have our own beauty here too! Thanks for reading!
From the desert heat to snow! The cheese cake looks delicious!
I like the heat better!! Cheesecake was pretty good!! Thanks for reading!!
seems way too early for snow! and congrats to Ohio State; Penn State lost a tough one…
I think it is way early for snow! I believe Penn State plays Ohio State next week. Should be a good game!
It seems like it’s been a while since Penn State has beaten Ohio State…
I guess we will see!!!
You have more snow than we do, Lori. Charcuterie board, Grigio and cheesecake all count as comfort food and health (mental) foods. We take our small pleasures where we can. Our weather is improving next week, so fingers crossed that yours will too. Thanks for sharing. Allan
With Covid numbers still climbing in Ireland, we are wearing masks all the time, too. With level five restrictions in place, there aren’t many places we can go to and that’s why we are mainly staying home. Can’t believe you had the first snow already, that’s so exciting. Thanks for sharing and have a good day 😀 Aiva
Thanks for reading and commenting! Sorry to hear numbers in Ireland are going up to!
Snow. Another dreaded four letter word, when it happens too early. Here as well, maybe 4 inches. And you know what Lori, any food one likes counts as comfort food. Looks tasty. jerry
Hope you don’t get too much snow!! Has not started here yet!! Take care!!!
It’s already snowing?? Unbelievable that it’s already winter season where you are! California’s still not quite there yet, although it did rain today. That charcuterie/wine tasting looks so good, as well as your cheesecake (so decadent…). Enjoy your upcoming week, and I can’t wait to see what you’ll be up to!
It is early for snow for us! I’m not liking it!! Would love to see some sun!!!! Thanks for reading!!
No to the snow! But the quilt looks lovely!
Glad you don’t have snow! I’m not a great quilter but I enjoy it! Been quilting for years! I just make them for friends and family and donate as well! Keeps me busy in the cold Iowa winter!
I love your first picture of the snow covering the flowers. We’ve been lucky and haven’t had any snow in Toronto yet. We’ve still been enjoying the fall foliage while it lasts!
Glad you have escaped the snow! It is supposed to warm up this week so we may enjoy some fall as well.
I, too, am sewing and cooking. My little baby quilts go to Project Linus. Unfortunately, my husband and I are eating pies, cakes, bread, etc. Gotta curb it somehow. But we definitely don’t have snow on our geraniums — pretty, though.
Good you don’t have snow! We are supposed to warm up by the end of the week! I am hoping so!
I’m not a fan of cold weather at all. I like to walk each morning in my neighborhood, but bundled up is not all that great. So, I’m enjoying fall weather as long as possible.
I agree!!
Love the snow on the flowers
Me too! Don’t like snow though!
Oh dear, oh dear. Here I was loving your post, and then I got to the flag. Sigh. Nittany Lion here. Your buckeyes are in Happy Valley this weekend. Sigh. Let’s focus on the flowers instead. 🙂 The picture of snow on the geraniums is fantastic! great shot! I’m still not ready to eat inside, but it sounds like you had the perfect conditions for it. If I could only guarantee an empty restaurant. 🙂 Snow and covid19 are a bummer of a combination. Keep looking for those positives. One is that you can sew. I wish I could. And I wish I knew how to recover the seats of my dining room chairs. Would you like to come visit me in NJ???? No snow here at least. 🙂
NJ sounds lovely although I don’t know how to recover chairs!!! Sorry about the flag!! I am not a sports fan and I’m not even sure I heard of the Ohio buckeyes until I started dating Steve about five years ago, but he loves his team!! He graduated med school
there, did his residency there, and spent some time on staff there so I can understand why he is attached! As for me, I tolerate it!! Lol!! I am not a fan of eating inside and as our numbers rise here in Iowa I have turned down a couple of dining invites. Can’t believe we have no mask mandates in our state but happy most of the businesses require them. Thanks for your comments!! Lori
