Since the Covid pandemic has limited our traveling, I am home most of the time. I thought I’d start a weekly series of mostly ordinary photos. Just ordinary daily things. Some are photos of things that never really meant much to me before or just seemed routine. Other photos are of things that get me through these long days or in addition make my whole week worth it!!
So here is my week of ordinary photos! Regardless, I am learning my new normal is taking one day at a time and enjoy the ordinary everyday things. This was an extra blessed week as I was able to see some of my family.

My youngest daughter bought a house and we went to help her with the yard work. Guess she didn’t need much help. You can imagine this mom’s surprise when she pulled out a chainsaw and knew how to use it!

My herb garden is doing well since I decided to use pots on my deck instead of feeding the rabbits in my garden. It’s nice having the time to learn how to cook with the fresh herbs.

Husband wanted me to bake cookies for him to take to work. I won’t say how many I had!!!!

Taking my new baby grand daughter for a stroller ride. Definitely the highlight of my week!

Enjoying an early morning rollerblading. Working out for our next hiking trip.

Ordinary view on my daily walk becomes exceptional when I can enjoy the peacefulness on a beautiful day!

Lunch out with Hubby at Malo’s in Des Moines, one of our favorites with a great outdoor patio!! They make amazing extraordinary tacos.
Well this was my ordinary week and I am ready to see what a new week brings. Thanks for following along!
Lori
I’m impressed by the sidewalk on your daily walk – a sidewalk out in the countryside must be unusual? I made chocolate chip cookies this week too…..chocolate chip cookies are an instant cheering up tool!
We live on the edge of town. Eventually this area will have houses and be developed Hopefully not soon though!
Ah…..well it’s very convenient to have sidewalks for walking in the country!
You had a very extraordinary ordinary week! Great idea. Bet it helped you to realize just how good it really is. Thanks so much for sharing!
Yes!! Definitely helped put it in perspective. Hoping to do this weekly.
Those home-baked cookies look divine! As for the tacos at that restaurant…sounds like a peaceful time, and really, we do need to appreciate the ordinary details in life, just as much as the exciting ones!
I hate to brag, but those chocolate chip cookies are awesome. Found the recipe many years ago and tweaked it a bit!!
GREAT photos!!!! I always love your photos but you may have surpassed yourself with these. Especially the cookies *grin*. Kudos to your daughter! I confess that I hate using power equipment, but sometimes it is the right tool for the task. How old is your adorable granddaughter? I have a ‘new’ grand-niece who is, incredibly, already 15 months old. Enjoy!!!!
Thanks! I don’t mind using power stools but I wouldn’t touch a chainsaw! My granddaughter will be 3 weeks old tomorrow! I’m sure she will grow fast!!
Hey, that ordinary week, looks pretty extraordinary to me. Glad you got out and about and enjoyed the life we have these days. Good on your daughter for trying a chainsaw, but I am not sure I would be so brave. I saw the damage it can do to even an experience chainsaw user (my Dad) Thanks for sharing Lori and stay well. Allan
Thanks for commenting! Having been an ER nurse for many years I cringe at the thought of her using the chainsaw!! She seems
To follow all the safety precautions but still!!! Take care!!!
What a wonderful ordinariness you’ve learned to see and enjoy, Lori! And those cookies! Yum yum yum, lol! But I know the feel re the grandchild, always the topper ❤️ We’re still waiting to a lasting cool down from near to above a hundred here in Texas, but it’s coming 😊
Thank you! We have been in the 90’s but 70’s today and then 50’s for a few day’s!! Brrr. Hope you get a cool down in Texas!
Sounds wonderful, Lori! And I’ll gladly take your good wishes! 😊
Love this post — even your ordinary would be extraordinary for me. I don’t do ladders much any more. I don’t have a precious baby to take care of. And I would break both ankles if I went rollerblading!!! So, just know that the term “ordinary” may be relative!
Lol! I agree ordinary is relative. I retired from ER nursing almost a year ago and I am still trying to get used to the slow down! Then add Covid in and my life has changed very much! It’s all good though!
I agree with you — it’s all good. I’m finding joy in little things: making baby blankets to donate to charity, cooking new recipes, watching home renovation shows even though I’m not interested in doing here (!), and cheering up friends who are sick. Not glamorous, but good. Enjoyed our chat!
Sounds like you are busy!!!
Your ordinary life looks anything but ordinary – very full with fun events.
What a cool post, and so needed in our world today. Too few think enough to appreciate the little things we have that make our lives whole. Thank you!
It has taken me many months to appreciate the little things and I am still working on it! Never thought Covid times would last so long but I can still work at making each day a day with gratitude no matter how ordinary I may think the day is!
I feel the same way. But, I guess 2020 is a good reminder that we should not take the little things for granted.
You are very right!
💗
I love your ordinaries. It gives us perspective, but I’m itching to go somewhere.
We are itching to travel again too! Planning on a Colorado and Utah trip at the end of this month. Hoping it works out!
what a wonderful day – the cookies and tacos look great – but nothing is better than your grand daughter…
I agree! She definitely has been the highlight of my summer!!
Cute granddaughter. Congrats!
Thanks!!
